Frequently asked questions

How Tastee handles your data, what the AI does with your tasting notes, and what the platform can and cannot do. If your question is not here, ask us.

Getting started

Do I need to install anything to use Tastee?

No. Tastee runs entirely in a web browser, on a computer, a tablet or a phone. There is nothing to download and nothing to update.

Do my tasters need an account to join a session?

No, your tasters do not need an account to join a session. A guest mode lets them take part straight away.

Creating a Tastee account does have advantages for anyone who tastes regularly, and there is a free plan.

How do I prepare a tasting?

You create the session, add the wines or spirits you will be pouring, and invite your tasters by link. It takes a few minutes. Nothing has to be printed, and you can still change the line-up at the last minute.

Our tutorials walk through it step by step.

What if the internet connection is poor at the tasting venue?

Tastee is an online platform: an internet connection is needed to use it. It is a light application though, and runs fine on low bandwidth, so a weak signal in a cellar or on a trade show floor is usually enough.

The analysis and the AI

Do I have to build a tasting grid or use a fixed vocabulary?

No. On Tastee, all tasting feedback is written as free text, in your own words and in your own writing habits.

How is my comment analysed?

On several years of R&D and on a database of more than four million professional tasting expressions. When the AI meets a phrase it does not understand, our team of oenologists helps it grasp the meaning, which improves how it reads similar phrasing later on.

What if two tasters describe the same wine differently?

Everyone is free to have their own opinion on a wine. Each comment is analysed independently, to extract the information it holds.

When a synthesis of several opinions is what you need, the Tastee analysis brings out what the panel agrees on. Individual perceptions stay readable in the detail. Disagreement between tasters is information, not noise.

Does the AI “correct” or modify my comments?

No. Tastee never changes your comments. The AI only analyzes them to extract and summarize information. If a sentence is incomplete, ambiguous, or unusable, it is simply ignored.

For optimal analyses, make sure your comments are written clearly, precisely, and with proper punctuation.

Does Tastee use my comments to train its AI?

Tastee analyzes your comments to extract useful information and turn it into actionable data. When the AI encounters information it doesn’t understand, our team of experts and oenologists helps it grasp the meaning. This enables it to better interpret similar information in the future, always in full respect of your data.

Is Tastee available in multiple languages?

Yes, Tastee is available in 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, and it can analyse comments written in more than 32 languages.

Does Tastee work with products other than wine and spirits?

The Tastee AI currently analyzes comments on wines and spirits.

For other products (beer, coffee, tea, chocolate, etc.), our team is exploring possible extensions.

If you’d like to adapt Tastee to your sector, contact us at partnerships@winespace.fr, we’d be delighted to discuss it.

Your data

Who can see my tasting notes?

By default, your comments are completely private. They are only shared with your explicit consent, for example when you participate in a session.

In the case of a collaborative account (team data sharing), comments remain private within the group: only its members can view and use them.

In all cases, you retain full control over your data.

Who owns the comments that are written?

Comments written on a personal account belong entirely to their author.

When a comment is written on a collaborative account or during a tasting session, it belongs to the organiser of the tasting, and the taster keeps a right of use over their own comment.

Can I export my data from Tastee?

Yes. From Tastee, you can export your tasting comments in Excel or CSV format.

The analysis results from your Tastee reports can be exported too, so you can work with them using the tools and methods of your choice.

Can I import older tasting comments into Tastee?

Yes. Several of our customers have digitised years of archives and turned a paper memory into something they can search, as Terre de Vins did.

How it is done depends on the format and the volume, so get in touch and we will look at your case.

Where is my data hosted?

All Tastee comments and data are hosted on servers located in France and in the European Union.

What happens to my data if I don’t renew my subscription or if I delete my account?

Your data will not disappear. If you do not renew your subscription, data access will be limited (free version), but you will still be able to access all your written comments.

If you delete your account, your data may be securely retained in accordance with our privacy policy.

Pricing and use cases

Is there a free version?

Yes. The free plan lets you write and keep your tasting notes, with limited access to the analyses. Paid plans open up the full analysis, exports and sharing.

The pricing page lays out what each plan includes.

Does the price depend on how many users or how many tastings I have?

No. Tastee is sold as a tiered subscription: you pick the plan that matches what you need, and the price does not move with the number of people in your team or the number of wines you taste.

Can I run my own competition with Tastee?

Yes. Panels, scoring, results analysis and the final ranking are all handled in the tool. National competitions use it for several hundred wines per edition, with results delivered the same day.

See how it works in our case studies and in the dedicated tutorial.

What’s the difference between Tastee and other consumer wine-rating apps?

Designed for wine and spirits professionals, Tastee is a professional tool for analyzing and enhancing tasting data. Thanks to powerful algorithms developed through many years of R&D, Tastee provides a solid analytical foundation for understanding, comparing, and managing sensory perception with precision.

Unlike consumer apps, which are mainly designed as spaces for discovery and sharing favorites, Tastee is aimed at professionals seeking rigor, consistency, and reliability in taste analysis.
